Troupe RPG

In all the gulfs between life and death, there was no grander stage of joviality and terror than the Kingdom of Guignol. Here the ripe red passion of the Murdered danced with the gallows-born humor of the Condemned. All the while, the Neglected watched so they might taste the glee and shock their fruitless lives lacked. Oh, what a bloody, merry nation the King of Unrule ignored, for his crooked crown sat atop an empty head. 

A head now long separated from its shoulders.

Among the Neglected were feckless souls resentful that their mediocrity was stripped from them so that joy and dread might take its place. These Wretches wanted not only to drown in their apathy, but drag every other soul in Guignol down to the same drab depths. How they gathered the gumption to usurp the throne and kill the king, the universe shall never know. No matter the why, the deed was done. The Wretches took the Prizes of the kingdom, and reshaped Guignol into a grey, bleak hell. The Murdered, Condemned, and Neglected reveled no longer but plodded along in somber ruins.

You are a Hellequin, a master of the hunt and the stage alike. With mirth, menace, and moxie you have captured many a vile soul and dragged them to their just reward. Now you have set your sights on the Wretches of Guignol. Many a Hellequin has tried to previously slay them and failed. With failure came a desolate existence trapped on the dismal plane. But you have a plan the other Fools before you never considered. You will seek out those fallen jesters, restore their zeal, and as a Troupe fell what they could not alone. 

The Kingdom of Guignol awaits, its throne sits empty, and its crown aches for a new brow. 

Troupe is a solo roleplaying game about a search for fellow fools, wretched souls, and power across a corrupted afterlife. Players take the role of a Hellequin, an otherworldly jester who is both a hunter and entertainer. Diving into the ruined Kingdom of Guignol, the Hellequin searches for their kin who fell prey to the dismal powers of the realm. While the Hellequin begins as a sole-protagonists, they gather a group of these saved souls around them, their Troupe. 

Using accessible gaming material (2 six sided dice, a deck of card, and a notebook), players will tackle challenges, evade danger, explore and create a map of the kingdom, fight uncanny bosses, search for baubles, and more.
